A Midwest Urbanist Anthology
CNU Midwest is pleased to announce we will be creating our first eBook in 2021. With support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, we have secured an experienced editor and are currently seeking idea submissions.
If you are involved with, or have knowledge of, an exciting project in your community and are interested in being featured as one of our ten stories in this year’s eBook, let us know by FEBRUARY 19, 2021.
The 2021 E-Book theme will be “HARD FOUGHT”. Each story will describe a project or initiative that created change in a Midwestern community after enduring trials or setbacks. Creating change in our communities is hard. In this eBook we will not only highlight unsung efforts throughout the Midwest, but we’ll also provide insight into how obstacles are faced and overcome. We seek to hear from a range of voices and experiences – writers do not have to be expert journalists. In fact, we are seeking stories from planners, architects, community development practitioners, developers, government officials, and landscape architects.
If you are interested in submitting for our eBook, please fill out the form below no later than FEBRUARY 19, 2021. Submission ideas should mirror our theme “HARD FOUGHT”. Submission ideas will be reviewed by our CNU Midwest eBook Subcommittee who will accept up to 10 ideas to become final essays. Each final essay will be roughly 2,000 words and should have quality photos and/or illustrations. We will provide a stipend of $50 for each final essay. Writers will have the month of February to complete the essay to meet our goal of publishing the eBook in May 2021.
